UPDATED -- TKC Told You So: Jackson County Exec LeVota Bids For Full Term

Pulled this one out of the compilation because our blog community has better coverage than any other outlet in town . . .

Remember that over the weekend we posted a full explanation from the Executive about his decision that offered some tough criticism of an opponent.

We were also the first to talk about his "promise" and how voters might perceive the move.

Here's today's update that makes it all official . . .

"Just before the filing deadline closed Tuesday, Jackson County Interim Executive Phil LeVota filed to run for a full four-year term, reversing a promise he made when he took the job."

And here's his note . . .

"Today, after soul-searching, praying, listening to the community, and lots of encouragement by literally thousands of people, I filed to run for office for the next term as Jackson County Executive this fall. I have worked hard to provide stability and to restore confidence in Jackson County government. We are making progress, but we’ve got a long way to go. The last thing that Jackson County needs now is a new executive that lacks the leadership, experience, and common sense that I have in this position. I was the right person for Jackson County last fall and I’m the right person for Jackson County for the next term. We can’t afford to go back. We have been successful but there are too many large issues left to take care of. This is about Democracy and it’s in the best interest of Jackson County for the voters to be able to choose from any and all candidates. Today, I filed for office but that only means that I will be on the ballot. It’s up to me to earn votes. I will do that as I continue to demonstrate that I am the person to continue to turn this ship around. I’m excited for the future of Jackson County!

"Thank you for your support."
