For us . . .
The worst part of this upcoming booze ban is that it hinges on special legislation for different parts of the city that tragically seem based on racial populations . . . Sadly, our myopic Mayor & Council can't see that no matter how well-meaning their aims . . . Crafting policy for neighborhoods along income and demographic lines sets a HORRIFIC precedent and actually works to erase so much progress of the civil rights era.
Yes, that's a bit of a troll BUT we don't doubt that some local lawyer will take this idea and make about 30 grand for it and win another lawsuit against KCMO.
Accordingly . . .
Here's a much more thoughtful small biz plea for mercy that also merits attention . . .
"We accept that responsibility as store owners. What we cannot accept is a regulation dividing neighborhoods, consumers and businesses and calling it public safety."
