Under the radar, last week was exceptionally violent . . . Today's gunfire adds to the quickly rising KCMO homicide count . . . Here's the info that police are sharing with local media along with more reporting:
Homicide 7000 block of Cleveland
This afternoon about 12:45pm officers were dispatched to the area of 70th and Cleveland on a shooting call.
On arrival officers located a vehicle stopped in the road at that location. Officers were directed inside the vehicle where they located an adult male shooting victim.
Officers rendered aid to the victim and called for EMS. EMS transported the victim to the hospital with life threatening injuries.
Detectives responded to the scene to begin their investigation along side of crime scene investigators.
A short time later detectives were notified the victim was declared deceased from his injuries at the hospital.
Preliminary information indicates the victim and multiple other people were at a location nearby on 71st st. When they came in contact with one or more suspects. That interaction escalated to shots being fired and the victim was struck.
The victim and others entered a vehicle and left the scene and drove to the location where police contacted them on 70th and Cleveland
Homicide detectives are now canvassing for witnesses and talking to people who were at the scene when police arrived.
There are not any suspects in custody at this time and there is no information yet on suspects.
