Frequently Discovering 'Broke Boyfriend Hug' In Kansas City

A sign of the times and an economic metric for the current epoch . . . 

The "broke boyfriend hug" is a viral social media trend and term describing a scenario where a man hugs his partner—often from behind—frequently interpreted as a sign of financial dependency or "weaponized incompetence."

Don't get it twisted . . . TKC isn't above giving out this sign of affection and proof of love with a great deal of misplaced confidence . . . But it's ACTUALLY a sign of a bigger economic trend . . . 

"You probably know a woman supporting an unemployed man. Maybe you’ve been that woman. What used to be an embarrassing secret has quietly become a macroeconomic data point, and now the Federal Reserve has the receipts.

"As of early 2026, women held more payroll jobs than men in the United States. This has happened twice before — briefly during the Great Recession and again just before Covid — and both times it reversed."
