Jackson County Executive Phil Levota emphasized that churches that are following the law and eligible for tax exemption status should receive it, but he has been made aware of some religious organizations operating as commercial enterprises.

"The churches that are doing the right thing and following the law and are eligible for the tax exemption status should get it. The people that aren't shouldn't," he said.
