Olathe, Kansas Unites Against ICE After Young Latinos Targeted?!?

As always, we advise readers to REMAIN CALM and avoid culture war triggering. 

Or at least, try to make as laugh rather than revealing keyboard anger and a lack of emotional control.

Consider . . .  

For the moment Kansas remains a solidly red state and even notable shifts in JoCo voting still haven't elicited dramatic change in state that hasn't sent a Democrat to the U.S. Senate since 1932. 

However . . . 

There's no denying that recent social media organizing, panic and politicking has sparked a great deal of "concern" in what is typically the least exciting part of Johnson County.

For instance . . .  

Olathe residents recently "mobilized" and stood watch outside of a daycare center when SUSPECTED ICE agents reportedly showed up ahead of student pickup hours.

And this brings us to the sordid topic of the feds ALLEGEDLY hassling young, legal Latino citizens. 

Forgive our crippling cynicism but, at face value, a recent La Migra controversy in Olathe isn't really so surprising and just another reminder that expecting any laws to be applied equally is mostly a dangerous fantasy . . . 

Bright side, it's always fun to watch our right-wing friends attempt to tap dance around their preference for alleged racial-bias when applied to somebody else . . . If only because social media and nearly all online comments mostly serve as venue to share a diverse collection of persecution complexes. 

Don't worry, we're certain that some of the most brilliant minds on the Internet can tell us how mass deportation theater in service of all of the Chinese merch for sale at suburban box stores keeps us safe.  

Meanwhile . . . 

There's a caveat to this discourse that's mostly unmentioned . . . We don't want youngster Latinos to be confused that their safety or well-being is at all integral to the immigration debate -- BECAUSE AMERICAN POLITICS IS REALLY JUST AN ARGUMENT AMONGST MIDDLE-CLASS WHITE PEOPLE!!!

Americans on low-end don't vote and the elite move policy with their wallets . . . Meanwhile, what we notice is a debate of American self-perception and political math . . . Domestic police crackdowns never play well and, tragically, martyrdom of middle-class white protesters seems to have given progressives momentum whilst many conservatives JUSTIFIABLY fear that the MAGA movement has started to fracture by way of podcaster beef and the slow turn away from populism given that NOBODY really wants to disrupt the status quo with any meaningful policy changes.

Sorry Grandma, you're not getting a break on health insurance and the White House might need to cut your check in service of the national debt.  

Therefore . . . 

This confrontation will either strike viewers as inspiring or uncomfortable even if it only "matters" in the context of swaying midterm voters . . . Check-it:  

"Two teenagers in Olathe say they were confronted by Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents Saturday morning near the Walmart off North Seventh Highway.  One of the teens told KMBC he was taken into custody, even though he is a United States citizen.  Video shows ICE agents handcuffing and pinning a 19-year-old on the pavement."
