"After trying to side step local ordinances and losing a few rounds in court. CoreCivic formerly CCA has applied for a special use permit. We would love to see citizens from across the metro show up to speak."

"City officials and residents can attend the meeting in person and address their thoughts on resuming the dormant private prison as an ICE detention center.

Speakers will be asked to sign in on the day of the meeting in the commission chambers and limit their time to three minutes. Many people have already chimed in on the City of Leavenworth’s Facebook post, discussing how this facility could impact public safety, economic conditions and community values."
