Our snarky question . . .

IF THE NEWSPAPER IS CONCERNED ABOUT HUSBAND & WIFE WORKING RELATIONSHIPS THEN WILL THEY MAKE A PEEK ABOUT CURRENT CITY HALL CONFLICTS?!?!

Probably not  . . . But we wanted to file our objections AND share the tidbit in case it comes up in the future . . .

The report presupposes & imagines a conflict but doesn't offer any evidence.

IN FACT, READING THE COLUMN WE REALIZE HUDNALL DOESN'T KNOW HOW THE POLICE BOARD WORKS!!! 

Moreover . . . 

It's not too much to ask that "award-winning" newsies understand the difference betwixt governance and policy functions of the KCPD Board Of Commissioners or even how contracts are awarded IF a journalist is gonna presuppose a conflict . . . A quick read and some preliminary info make it clear that we might see a retraction from the paper pretty soon. 

Either way . . .

"Hall’s husband is the president of a private security firm called Custos Security, founded in 2023. State paperwork as recently as October lists Eben Hall as the company’s president, and the firm is authorized by the Kansas City Police Department to employ security officers in the city, KCPD confirmed to me Friday.

"Hall has been serving on the police board in an interim capacity since July. That means there have been, at minimum, several months during which a sitting commissioner’s spouse led a private security company operating in the same city — the kind of company that regularly comes before the Board of Police Commissioners on appeals or other matters involving commissioned security officers.

"Hard to conjure a clearer conflict of interest than that."
