Kansas City Servers Fear World Cup Fans Won't Tip

Actually, those fears are not without merit . . .

A recent news tidbit was recently sent our way because the reporting buried the most important detail that might spell doom for the Kansas City restaurant biz & workers.

Here's the news fact that locals should understand . . .

WORLD CUP FANS COMING TO KANSAS CITY DON'T REPRESENT TIPPING CULTURES & LOCAL SERVERS ALREADY FEAR GETTING RIPPED OFF!!!

 For the record . . .

Tipping at levels as high as 40% for many Americans is frowned upon in most other parts of the world.

Tipping culture in the states is out of control as all manner of screens are presented to consumers at nearly every opportunity.

However . . .

One reader sent this story our way because it didn't garner much traction and deserves a bit more daylight.

The note was simple:

"If this cheapskate mentality is what the World Cup promises Kansas City, we need to start talking about another strike for restaurant workers."

 Check the damage . . .

"Tipping in Algeria, the Netherlands and Argentina is not considered mandatory but tips are still appreciated as a sign of good service. Tipping in those restaurants is generally up to 10%."

Read that one again for better understanding . . . Here's our takeaway having worked more than a few shifts as a waiter and in a restaurant kitchen . . .

TIPPING 10% IS PEANUTS, RUDE & WILL BE TAKEN AS AN INSULT TO KANSAS CITY SERVERS!!! NOWADAYS ANY TIP LESS THAN 20% IS A SLAP IN THE FACE!!!

Sure, it's not fair and it's why TKC no longer eats at restaurants . . . But it's reality.

And so . . .

Locals might want to understand that global crowds following the World Cup might be inadvertently breaking Kansas City etiquette and once again all of the promised profits seem illusory.
