Kansas City Fool's Spring Homicide Trending

To start this year, it's hard not to notice this trend . . . 

Milder weather has given way to a local homicide surge and rising violence in urban Kansas City. 

Last week we noticed at least four homicides punctuated by deadly mass shooting that claimed the lives of two women.

Sadly, this week starts with more fatal confrontations . . . Here is a report police are sharing with local media along with more reporting . . .  

Homicide Linwood and Brighton 

This afternoon right around 1:45PM officers were dispatched to the VA hospital on a reported shooting. 

Upon officers arrival, they contacted several individuals who had stated the shooting occurred in the 2900 block of Brighton Avenue. The victim was transported by private conveyance to the VA hospital for medical treatment. VA hospital staff advised officers at that time that the victim was declared deceased.

Preliminary information provided by a witness stated that she was inside of her residence when she heard several sounds of shots outside of her home. She exited the residence and located an adult male victim, lying in the street suffering from apparent gunshot trauma. An adult male suspect was seen entering an unknown vehicle and left the area in an unknown direction. We do not have anyone in police custody at this time, and the investigation is ongoing.

Homicide detectives and crime scene personnel have responded to the scene to begin collecting evidence and witness statements.

Man shot to death Monday afternoon in east Kansas City, Missouri

A man died Monday afternoon after he was shot in the 2900 block of Brighton Avenue and taken by a private vehicle to the nearby VA hospital.

Kansas City police respond to homicide near Linwood Green Park

Law enforcement stated officers were investigating a homicide on Kansas City's east side.
