Kansas City Confronts Another Season Of Porch Pirates

Quick bit of advice against a constant problem that remains a persistent flaw amid the ongoing tech facilitated decline of American retail . . . Check-it:

Kansas City Police Department officials said porch piracy comes in waves across the city. However, they said they have not seen an “influx in package thefts.” In a statement, KCPD offered the following guidance:

Turn on delivery notifications through services such as Amazon and UPS so you know when a package has arrived. KCPD said this helps establish a time frame for investigators if a theft occurs.

Add delivery instructions directing carriers to place packages out of plain sight, away from the most accessible entry point.

Set delivery windows for times when you or a trusted person is home to receive packages.

Be a good neighbor and watch for suspicious activity in the area.

Another option is having packages delivered to a P.O. box or a workplace.
