Like it or not, this is likely the most appropriate metaphor that we've seen for the state of local tourism and so much civic hope/hype for a Summer revival . . . Check-it:
"Signs of financial trouble have simmered at the luxury Hotel Kansas City. Foreign investors and an oversight entity say they're owed significant sums at a point when a separate default may lead to a foreclosure sale."
