Faithful Scribe Calculates Kansas City Slavery Reparations

Credit to KC's top ranking writer on faith & morals for keeping track of a conversation that's mostly just a scheme to get East side politically connected leaders yet another payday.

As we've long contended . . .

Reparations will never happen in KCMO and the only people getting paid are those who can garner funding to keep the dream alive . . . Pun intended . . . Maybe . . . Check-it:

In Kansas City, the commission’s job is to focus on actions taken by the city that have resulted in racial injustice and to recommend actions to repair the damage.

It’s a complicated task, but perhaps Kansas City’s commission will study the Detroit report and also learn from what Evanston, Ill., has done to start a reparations program.

As the Detroit report notes, it “calls for just compensation to Detroiters, not only for the horrendous harms of enslavement of our ancestors, but also for the harms of segregation, discrimination and repression that have continued unabated throughout our history in this City.”

(Does that remind you of Kansas City’s history? It should.)

Can Detroit's reparations report help guide the Mayor's Reparations Commission in KC?

Are there any ideas to borrow from the Motor City?
