Civil Rights Leader Jesse Jackson Dies At 84

This Sesame Street video above is probably my favorite Jesse Jackson moment because most of everything else is politics. 

Fun TKC fact . . . As a toddler TKC helped collect ballots in Midtown KC for a Democratic Party caucus when votes for Jesse Jackson were much more enthusiastic than the doomed candidacies of Gary Hart & Walter Mondale. 

As we've noted many times as of late . . . This passing is important for a lot of reasons but mostly because it signifies that the United States is moving further past the bygone Civil Rights era every day . . .

The Rev. Jesse Jackson, the longtime civil rights activist, Baptist minister and two-time presidential candidate, died Tuesday, his family said. He was 84.

"Our father was a servant leader - not only to our family, but to the oppressed, the voiceless, and the overlooked around the world," the Jackson family said in a statement Tuesday.
