Amid a worsening labor market and continual high stress amongst the Kansas City service industry . . . We're getting word of push back at a premier local event . . . Here are the basics:
MIDTOWN KANSAS CITY SERVERS THREATEN RESTAURANT WEEK WALKOUT!!!
It's not like we're going out on a limb here . . .
Anybody who knows a local server understand that they all LOATHE KC Restaurant week and complaint about it incessantly for weeks on end.
The note our way advised caution because the collective action is still in the planning stages but here's part of the message we were cleared to share:
"This is ridiculous. We are STILL struggling with staffing issues and all of us are working double shifts for this money loser. It makes no sense that KC restaurants have participate in this charade. Very few people actually enjoy it and the deep discounts just take money out of our pockets. If we don't see some compensation or just basic human decency . . . That's it. We're out. If they're going to treat us like fast food workers, then we're better off just working in fast food."
Again, the complaints are pretty standard over the years but this time around we're noticing an uptick in frustration.
Right now we can't share a lot of deets but we've forwarded a few notes with friends at TV stations if/when the walkout goes down . . .
Right now this note is more of a flex and a reminder to tip your wait staff.
