The Dotte Moves To Ban ICE Facilities After Kansas City, Missouri Opposition

Again . . . The model here is Leavenworth and their push back against ICE that has delayed a project for more than a year by way of civic codes.

Our conservative and newsie friends have pointed to the Supremacy Clause and they're not wrong . . . HOWEVER . . . Those sources also acknowledge that we're not talking about operations of the federal government but CONTRACTORS who are required to negotiate with municipalities. And honestly, the current administration hasn't show a willingness to dive into the byzantine labyrinth of muni-codes when it comes to accomplishing their agenda . . .  

And so . . . This effort is worth considering . . .  

"Kansas City, Kansas, is moving to block the expansion of non-municipal detention facilities within its borders, introducing an ordinance that would establish a moratorium on new Special Use Permits for such operations through January 1, 2031.

"A special use permit battle has been moving through the courts in nearby Leavenworth, Kansas, for months as city officials fight the federal government arguing their lack of an approved special use permit prevents CoreCivic from opening the now inmate-free Leavenworth Detention Center as an ICE detention."
