Like it our not, our blog is about offering a glimpse at the level of discourse in our cowtown and this faith community fact stands out . . .

Cowtown church meetings are now mobilizing against ICE and teaching residents how the oppose the current federal immigration crackdown.

Here's a glimpse at their work and the current word in local houses of prayer . . .

The organization called Boots on the Ground Midwest led the “Know Your Rights” training on Sunday, drawing more than 350 attendees. The session was conducted by people trained by immigration attorneys.

“The reality is, I had no idea how we might respond,” said David McDaniel, senior pastor at Holmeswood Church. “It pains me to see inhumane actions taken against our brothers and sisters.”

The training taught participants several key rights, including the ability to record law enforcement activity. ICE agents must present warrants, and people have the right to remain silent during encounters.
