Strangely . . .
If TKC was REALLY ambitious this blog would have become an online bookie outlet years ago and offered a "prediction market" where locals could lose money on all manner of local foibles.
Regulation will inevitably shut down that "online opportunity" but in the meantime we're taking a prop bet for 15,000 (worthless) TKC points . . . The big question:
WILL KANSAS CITY'S TOY TRAIN STREETCAR KEEP RUNNING IF THE WINTER STORM IS AS BAD AS THEY CLAIM?!?
We're guessing that the odds favor a big NO . . . But here's a more optimistic take for balance . . .
"Streetcar service is scheduled to operate from 5 a.m. to 1 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 24.
"Officials said service could be adjusted if conditions worsen and operating safely becomes an issue.
"Crews have spent the week preparing equipment and infrastructure ahead of the storm.
"Heaters have been installed on all streetcar pantographs to prevent ice buildup on overhead wires, and an ice cutter has been added to one car. Trackways and platforms have been pretreated with a chemical blend to help limit ice and snow accumulation."
