Big picture . . .
IT'S OFFICIAL, THE NEW STRUCTURE IS A FLOP & THEY SHOULD HAVE TRIED HARDER TO REPLACE THE BROADWAY BRIDGE!!!
Here's the traffic report update . . .
Drivers heading north on U.S. 169 near the downtown airport noticed a bump on the Viaduct bridge over the railroad and contacted MODOT.
“It was closed at the time due to what we thought was a problem with the expansion joint,” MoDOT Kansas City District Engineer Greg Bolon said.
This spring, the department will reopen northbound U.S. 169 just north of the Kansas City Downtown Airport -Wheeler Field in a new traffic pattern.
As part of the new traffic pattern, crews will build crossovers and shift traffic so that northbound and southbound U.S. 169 each move to one lane. Drivers will travel in a single lane in each direction on the southbound U.S. 169 bridge, which allows northbound U.S. 169 to reopen across that bridge.
The new traffic pattern on NB/SB U.S. 169 will begin just past the Kansas City Downtown Airport and end just north of the bridge near Briarcliff Parkway and MO Route 9.
