As craft breweries fade from relevance . . . Here's local government hoping to hold on a longstanding taxable beverage that's not as much fun at sky high prices . . . Check-it:
"The law, HB 1041, which took effect on January 1, changes the price of barrel inspections from $1.86 to 62 cents. This is collected each time a beer barrel is tested. The barrels hold 31 gallons, which is two kegs, and serves around 248 pints of beer . . .
"The Missouri law that's making these changes is the same one allowing businesses with liquor licenses to stay open for 23 hours during the FIFA World Cup."
