This week a fleet of ICE vehicles parked near Worlds Of Fun and a warning about an impending local ICE warehouse detention center facility from Congressman Cleaver has pushed many Kansas City progressives into panic mode.
Yesterday an arrest by Feds in Grandview added fuel to the fire and sparked more activist outcry.
The main point . . .
KANSAS CITY PROGRESSIVES DEMAND MORE LEADERSHIP AGAINST ICE FROM MAYOR Q!!!
This info comes by way of messages from TKC and so many online demands currently bombarding Mayor Q's social media presence.
In fact . . . This local constituent calls out Mayor Q's inaction after telephone calls to 12th & Oak left her uninspired.
The crux of her commentary . . .
"I contacted Mayor Quinton Lucas and asked that he speak to his constituents. I was informed that the City of Kansas City will not take a position opposing federal ICE agents. "
To be fair . . .
Here's the current level of reported opposition against ICE from the Mayor so far . . .
Kansas City Mayor Quinton Lucas is opposing reports of a possible ICE detention facility in the area.
“I wanna see ICE go home and go back to the things they were doing before,” Lucas said. “I think that we have no need for an ICE facility.”
The only problem . . .
MANY LOCAL PROGRESSIVES AREN'T SATISFIED WITH WORDS & DEMAND MAYOR Q USE HIS POWER TO PUSH BACK AGAINST ICE!!!
And so . . .
Once again KCMO Mayor Quinton Lucas stands at a crossroads, he can choose to support law enforcement and the current crackdown by the White House OR . . . Again . . . He can side with angry protesters.
From our vantage . . .
What the Mayor CAN'T DO is pretend that constituents aren't asking him to make a choice about his loyalties.
