Remember . . . Last year via social media & public protest, many (but not all) east side leaders targeted immigrant biz & espoused divisive rhetoric amid of shootings near gas stations on Prospect.
Now . . .
With more measured and responsible language that STILL might not improve the situation.
Here's a follow-up comment . . .
Lace Cline, the city’s director of public safety, said shootings like this prompted the creation of two new ordinances addressing drug and alcohol sales at gas stations.
“So what we’re doing is we’re trying to better regulate places where people congregate and these places attract a certain demographic through selling certain types of products,” Cline said.
To be clear, police have not said if drugs or alcohol were related to this most recent shooting. But Cline said she has noticed a pattern in similar crimes and believes the ordinances would help prevent violence.
