Homicide 6600 block of Monroe
This afternoon just before 2:45 PM officers were dispatched to the 6600 block of Monroe Avenue on a reported shooting call for service. While officers were responding to the scene, several additional calls for a sound of shots were reported.
Upon arrival, there was a group of people summoning responding officers to the rear of an apartment complex building. An unidentified male victim, believed to be an adult, was located lying in a parking lot, unresponsive and suffering from believed gunshot trauma. EMS responded shortly behind officers and declared the victim deceased on scene.
Preliminary information indicates there was an interaction that took place between the victim and several unknown males. That interaction escalated into gunfire and resulted in the victim being struck. The unidentified males left the scene in an unknown direction occupying an unidentified vehicle. We do not have any subjects of interest identified and no one is in police custody at this time.
