Kansas City Northland Couple Shot Dead & Infant Injured

Depending on the investigation, this latest spate of violence could boost the 2026 KCMO homicide count to #7 only halfway into first month of the year. 

Right now, thankfully, KC Proper remains behind last year's January homicide total BUT ahead of the 2023 record breaking pace . . . We share that context because Winter is where KC TYPICALLY makes a great deal of progress keeping the count lower throughout the year. 

Also, it's worth noting that this double gunfire fatality is the second major instance of deadly violence for the OTHERWISE PEACEFUL KC Northland so far this week.

For the early morning, here is the info that police are sharing with local media . . .

Death Investigation 1200 blk of NE 83rd Ter. 

Tonight, just before 8:30 PM, officers were dispatched to the 1200 block of NE 83rd Terrace on a reported nature unknown.

As officers arrived they were directed inside a residence. Once inside they located an adult male and an adult female both suffering from gunshot wounds.  Officers also located a juvenile male with an unknown injury. The juvenile was transported to a local hospital for evaluation. Both the adult male and adult female were pronounced deceased at the scene.

This is currently a death investigation and investigators are not looking for anyone else involved. Detectives are working to determine what led up to the incident. Crime scene personnel and detectives are canvassing the area for witnesses, physical evidence, and surveillance footage.
