Kansas City 2026 Homcide #5: Domestic Fight Leaves Man Dead

Homicide 2500 blk of NE 78th St. 

This morning, just after 7:30 AM, officers were dispatched to the 2500 block of NE 78th Street on a reported shooting.

As officers arrived they located an adult male victim, lying in the street, suffering from gunshot wounds. KCFD Medics responded simultaneously and began performing life saving measures. However, the victim was pronounced deceased on scene.

This is being investigated as a homicide. A subject of interest was taken into custody by patrol officers on scene. The preliminary investigation revealed there was a dispute between two individuals that were known to one another. A physical altercation ensued, which led to shots being fired and the victim being struck. Investigators are canvassing the area for witnesses, physical evidence, and any possible surveillance footage.
