"It was flawed," Jackson County Executive Phil LeVota told KMBC on January 2. "The system was flawed. There were many legislators that weren't included. And if you were at that meeting, you saw them voice that. I am sympathetic to that. I have the same questions that you have."
"For me, fairness, among other things, would be to make sure that the legislative input from all nine legislators was equally considered because we represent different parts of the community," Legislator Sean Smith said.
Smith was the one vote against the funding allocations.
Smith, now selected as Vice-Chair of the Legislature, introduced Resolution 22147, which requests an audit to "examine and evaluate the management of Jackson County's fiscal, budgetary, and procurement policies and procedures of the expenditure of ARPA funds."
