Jackson County Prosecutor Shares Numbers Showing Crime Fight Progress

Here's something that a very knowledgeable person told us that didn't make the report . . . 

People watching KCMO crime closely, notice that Jackson County Prosecutor's office CASE TURNAROUND TIME IS NOW QUICKER thanks to the new boss. 

That might not sound like a big deal but it's a very clear hint that she's serious about her job and that bodes well for all residents . . . In fact, it's such a significant detail that her office didn't seem to want to tout it, probably out of respect for her predecessor. 

And so . . . We share her presser and subsequent reporting . . .  

"We charged more cases, built stronger partnerships with law enforcement, and implemented innovative strategies for prosecution that are already delivering promising results," according to Johnson.

She says case filing rates climbed to 73%, and conviction rates reached nearly 70% in 2025, an 8% increase over 2024.

Johnson says she strengthened partnerships with law enforcement, pointing to a 14% increase overall in case referrals compared to the previous year.
