A note about the upcoming conversation and a quote from the Legislature Chairman . . .
The Jackson County Legislature will host a public community listening session Tuesday evening to hear directly from residents about the impact of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) activity in the region and to gather public input related to Proposed Ordinance 6050.
The listening session is designed as an open forum for community members to share experiences, concerns, and questions regarding federal immigration enforcement, its visibility in local communities, and how such activity affects public trust, safety, and democratic accountability in Jackson County.
Proposed Ordinance 6050 focuses on transparency and accountability standards when law enforcement officers interact with the public within Jackson County. Community feedback shared during the session will help inform the Legislature’s ongoing consideration of the proposal.
“This is about creating space for people to speak openly about what they are seeing and experiencing in our region,” said Manny Abarca, Chairman of the Jackson County Legislature. “Whether residents have concerns, questions, or perspectives to share about ICE activity and its broader impacts, we want to hear them directly.”
