Historic Kansas City Jeserich Building Demolition Begins

A note about history and architecture lost along the toy train streetcar extension line . . . 

"Since 1888, the Jeserich building has stood on the northeast corner of 31st and Main streets, the oldest building on the downtown Main Street corridor. As seen on Jan. 14, the top of its distinctive tower and nearly all of its top floor are gone. The building is being razed to make room for new development."

The building, while it still stands, is the oldest building on Kansas City downtown Main Street corridor, constructed just one year before the original City of Kansas changed its name in 1889 to Kansas City.
