Clay Chastain Announces Smart Green Initiative 

"Father time" marks a milestone for a Nation that shirked tyranny for freedom. Perhaps it will also be the Year KC shirks failure for success. A New Petition (*Smart Green Initiative*) is hereby announced advocating for 'revolutionary' transportation & infrastructure improvements to cut the cost of living, improve livabilty & put KC on the road to prosperity.

KC is bogged down in a Mire of 'Bad' ...crime, transit, core, housing, disparity, congestion, unaffordability. The cure is to revolutionize the urban living environment so it becomes incredibly efficient, clean, affordable, equitable and desirable. All that positive change will also put downward pressure on crime by creating new jobs & economic opportunities.

The need for this Initiative should be obvious.... The limited Streetcar Sys. is not viewed as a serious, complete rail system, the diesel bus system has collapsed & we need a vision to fix all that while extricating our City from the "Mire".

This Vision is Citizen - led because... the Council busies itself promoting developer's glitz, Mayor Lucas busies himself orating on National politics & begging the Royals to stay and both piggybacked upon the Chief's (ephemeral) glory, but offer no way out of the "Mire".

The "Smart Green Initiative" takes a quantum leap past City Hall with a 'Futuristic' Plan to wrap the City in (lasting) "glory".

Voters: "The time to hesitate is through, no time to wallow in the mire, try now we can only lose" & our 'Town become a Town on Fire', as follows:

Shall the City of Kansas City, Missouri extend the 3/8-cent bus sales tax for an additional 40-years (upon its expiration in 2033) & impose a new 1/4-cent capital improvement sales tax for 40-years (beginning 1/1/27) in order to construct, operate & maintain the following (Interconnecting) Transportation & Infrastructure Improvements & to secure federal matching funds: 

#1. Establish seamless, comprehensive, integrated & All-Electric Public Transport System including... 

(A) New Airport Monorail to connect KCI to Northland, Downtown & Streetcar Sys. @ Union Station, 

(B) New (East/West) Streetcar lines from VA Medical Center to KS Medical Center (utilizing Linwood, Main, 39th St.) & from Zoo Complex to Plaza, 

(C) New Electric Bus Sys. for thoroughfares... Barry, Vivion, Troost, Prospect, Indep., Wornall, Bannister, 

(D) New Mini-Electric Shuttle Bus Sys. to transport riders to & from rail & e-bus stations & to expand service area around stations to nearby neighborhoods, destinations & job centers, 

(E) New Regional Transportation Center @ Union Station (requires razing structures @ 2300 & 2301 Main St.) to facilitate connections between all modes of transportation;

#2. Establish additional New Mobility Options by repurposing sections of wide City Boulevards & Medians into safe, dedicated Greenways (Walk / Bike/ Scooter) to adjoin neighborhoods & connect to transit stations;

#3 Establish New, 200-acre 'Sanctuary Park' (car-free) in place of Penn Valley Park featuring natural landscapes, recreational trails & open green space in the City's Center?
