Could Membership Save Kansas City Prospect Grocery Store From Another FAIL?!?

Here's the latest, local freebie scheme that ACTUALLY isn't a bad idea. 

Membership stores have been proven to reduce theft and provide consequences for bad actors. The security checkpoint isn't a bad idea to improve safety overall. 

However . . .

None of that will fix HORRIFIC problems in the parking lot which included public defecation, homeless camping, prostitution and an open-air drug market that kept a great many people from utilizing the story.  

Here's a glimpse at the plan . . . 

Anthony Estrada, the owner and operator of United Market said he chose the name United Market to encompass the community and bring people together. He is also considering a free membership program to help reduce crime.

“You would get exclusive discounts and offers coupons loaded onto the membership. But you would have to be a member to open the store,” Estrada said. “We don’t consider charging for that membership, but just basically having people’s information on file will kind of create a separate environment and probably reduce that.”
