Reality Check: Kansas City Crime Chases Away Chiefs & Local Biz

In the past 48 hours there has been a desperate attempt to cast blame after the Kansas City Chiefs have decided to leave city limits.

So far the newspaper looks to pin crisis on the former Jackson County Executive, Mayor Q is taking endless heat on social media and even during his public appearances. Also, more thoughtful fans & pundits decry the greed of NFL ownership and the billionaire Hunt family.

Amid all of this . . .

KCMO is confronted with the last anchor tenant on the Country Club Plaza picking up stakes and moving to more peaceful and affluent suburbs of Leawood, Kansas.

Whilst we welcome debate offering insight from every perspective, TKC insiders share a much more simple and practical explanation that can guide us moving forward . . .

DEADLY KANSAS CITY CRIME CHASED AWAY THE CHIEFS & THREATENS TO INSPIRE MORE LOCAL BUSINESSES TO LEAVE!!!

A few arguments to support this argument . . . Despite the urge of so many progressives to confuse national stats with our more precarious local predicament . . .

Have we already forgotten that a Chiefs fan was killed last year at their Super Bowl rally??? Historians might agree the tragic shooting death of Lisa Lopez-Galvan was the turning point for the franchise and what REALLY chased the team across the State Line.

And then . . .

On the Plaza locals have struggled to control worsening crime and a deteriorating climate for luxury biz that followed weeks of 2020 BLM rioting wherein the Mayor joined mobs & chanted "No Justice, No Peace" along with angry crowds. Is it so hard to believe that big biz would share skepticism about his promises for development in between politically charged "mostly peaceful" gatherings???

And then . . .

Under the tenure of Mayor Q, brazen and often violent attacks on cars and businesses have spiked and continue into this year.  Authorities have attempted to craft a solution and even offer payouts to local biz who have suffered rampant crime but violent vandalism, theft and robbery persist and create a rough climate for merchants, customers & communities in nearly every corner inside city limits.

Tragically . . .

Most of these concerns are dismissed by our leadership or debated with insignificant fluctuations in crime stats which refuse to admit that Mayor Q's tenure has been the most deadly in Kansas City history and the consequence has been one business after the next leaving town.

In the final analysis . . .

The threat of crime continues to impact the destiny of Kansas City as local officials play politics with colleagues or tacitly argue for more taxpayer-funded incentives for developers rather than confront the reality of increasingly dangerous streets threatening the ability of residents to conduct business.
