Questions Emerge After Jackson County Property Tax Relief Debuts

More worthwhile reporting that shouldn't take away from what might be the power move of the year . . . 

"Jackson County Executive Phil LeVota announced he’s expanding tax relief related to ongoing property assessment issues in the county, but that relief will not apply after a person sells their property . . . The tax credits or rebates will not go to owners who have sold their property since 2023."

Also . . . 

"Residential assessments are to be capped at a 15% increase for 2023, with any amount paid in excess to be credited on the next three years of property taxes. Commercial taxes for 2025 are to be capped at 15% as well, but it’s still unclear if that will be applied to bills due at the end of the month or if owners will be credited for future years, like with residential taxes."
