More Deets After Elderly Woman Suffers Olathe Hammer Attack

The Good Samaritan said he got in between the victim and the man with the hammer. As he and others tried to defend her, the attacker reportedly said things like, “I am a person, too” and “you don’t know what you’re doing.”

SUSPECT stayed there until police arrived and placed him in handcuffs. First responders found the victim lying in the parking lot with a large cut on her skull and nose. She had surgery for facial fractures and was placed in intensive care.

Police said they haven’t been able to figure out what led to the attack. The two people didn’t know each other.
