KCPD Desperately Seeking More Money

From the TKC vantage . . .

MONEY FOR MORE POLICE MIGHT THE ONLY INCREASED KCMO SPENDING WORTH SUPPORTING!!!

There is a direct benefit to paying police more and putting more uniforms on the street . . . Our only caveat is that the department has a penchant for tech toys, like the silly "shot spotter" system, that don't work and we wouldn't mind those efforts scaled back in favor or more UNIFORMS on local streets to help keep the peace.

Either way . . . Here's the word . . .

"The Kansas City Police Department (KCPD) added 51 officers in 2025, ending the year with 1,148, but still faces staffing shortages, leading them to request funding for 50 more officers for the next fiscal year (FY2026-27) to reach a goal of 1,309 funded positions, as part of a large budget increase request.

Police Chief Stacey Graves noted efforts to rebuild staffing, while the department also seeks funds for 911 dispatchers and legal settlements, even with ongoing budget challenges and a mandate for fiscal discipline."
