Kansas Gov. Laura Kelly is suing Attorney General Kris Kobach over who has the authority to represent the state in lawsuits. Republicans have juxtaposed the Democratic governor's lawsuit with the No Kings protests, comparing her to a queen.

The dispute centers on differing interpretations of the Kansas Constitution's phrase "supreme executive power."

The case could determine if Kelly can sue the Trump administration without Kobach's approval.
