According to Kansas Commerce, Wyandotte County and the City of Olathe would designate a portion of their local sales tax revenue to pay for the stadium project. Kansas Commerce said in its plan that the public will fund 60 percent of the project.
Tim Hamilton, an associate professor of economics at Johnson County Community College, said businesses will have to raise prices to make up for that tax on their goods and services.
“It’s gonna be the consumers that are gonna pay for it,” Hamilton said. “Prices will inevitably go up in those particular areas.”
