Kansas City Suffers Double Homicide Day After Christmas 2025

Right now we want to share the aftermath of a deadly shooting over "stuff" on the day after holiday celebration . . . Unofficially, this might put the local homicide count at #136 which is a number about 8 killings lower than last year at this time in this era of unprecedented violence in KCMO history.

Homicide 7400 blk of Chestnut 

This morning, just after 9:15 AM, patrol officers were dispatched to the 7400 block of Chestnut on a reported disturbance. While en route the call was upgraded to a shooting. 

As officers arrived they located two adult males in the street, suffering from gunshot wounds. KCFD EMS arrived simultaneously and performed life saving measures. Both victims were pronounced deceased on scene. 

This is being investigated as a homicide. The preliminary investigation has revealed that there was a dispute over property, just prior to shots being fired and the victims being struck. Detectives have located several witnesses and will continue to canvass the area for additional witnesses or surveillance footage. Crime scene personnel are processing the scene for any available physical evidence.
