Kansas City Refuge Advocates Share Outrage Over MAGA Re-interviews

Leaders of the Jewish Vocational Service of Kansas City are expressing worry after the government revealed plans to potentially reinterview refugees.

Recently, the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services said it may review and potentially reinterview more than 230,000 refugees who were admitted into the United States between January 2021 and February 2025.

“JVS condemns this cruel, illegal and wasteful policy that continues the effort to dismantle refugee protection,” the organization said in a statement released Tuesday. “Refugees admitted to the United States have already undergone extensive security and background checks, the most rigorous vetting process for entrants to the U.S.”
