"At Friday’s historic preservation commission meeting, longtime residents came out in full force to voice their opposition to the project . . . Many people who live nearby, particularly the Pendleton Heights Neighborhood Association and Kansas City Bungalow Club, would prefer KCU preserve the historic building. They say the university has already demolished 16 buildings over the years, which is why they want Smith Hall to be listed as a protected property."
