Social media comments described untreated neighborhood roads and slow moving interstates. Trash pickup delays also became a concern for many residents.
Mayor Quinton Lucas said the sanitation slowdown was directly tied to staffing overlap during winter operations.
The mayor acknowledged communication gaps, especially with Kansas City schools.
“I will never pretend that there’s perfection at the beginning of a storm,” he said. “And frankly, I think that during the storm, it was tough.”
