Kansas City ATA Promises 'Minimal Pain' As Route & Service Cuts Arrive 2026

Something to think about whilst hoofing it around this town . . . 

 Whilst local leaders are explaining fewer bus rounds, notice that money for developers given away in the name of "Transit-Oriented Community Development" remains one of Kansas City's worst priorities.

Changes are coming to the Kansas City Area Transportation Authority (KCATA) in 2026. After a funding deal was passed by Kansas City’s council, riders will see a cut in routes and a decrease in services available in Kansas City, Missouri.

“You’re likely to experience minimal pain. That was the goal of these cuts,” said Tyler Means, the Chief Mobility and Strategy Officer at KCATA.
