Homicide totals are lower this year but that's not much comfort to so many families impacted by deadly gunfire and domestic abuse . . . Accordingly, here's the latest report that KCPD is sharing with local media:
Homicide-Admiral and Paseo
This morning just before 4:30AM officers were dispatched to the intersection of Admiral and Paseo on a reported shooting.
Officers responded to the area where they located an adult male victim, lying in the street near the intersection, unresponsive, and suffering from apparent gunshot trauma. EMS responded to the scene shortly after initial responding officers and declared the victim deceased at that time.
There is no preliminary information indicating what led up to the shooting and a subject of interest has not been identified at this time.
Homicide detectives and crime scene personnel have responded to the scene to begin collecting witness statements and gathering any evidence. This incident is being investigated as a homicide and is ongoing at this time.
If anyone was in the area and heard or saw anything or has any information they are asked to contact Homicide detectives directly at 816-234-5043 or the TIPS Hotline anonymously at 816-474-TIPS. There is a reward of up to $25,000 for information submitted anonymously to the TIPS hotline.
We are committed to assisting victims of violent crimes through use of Missouri’s Protection Program for Victims/Witnesses of Violent Crime. Funding for temporary, or even permanent relocation, may be available but is subject to pre-approval by the State’s administering agency.
