Kansas City 2025 Homicide #129: Victim Shot Dead On Sidewalk

Early morning starts with a murder investigation as slightly lower crime stats this year don't seem to be convincing many locals about increasing safety in neighborhoods.

Here's the info that police are sharing with media . . .

Homicide 2500 blk of Hardesty

This morning, just before 1:30 AM, officers were dispatched to the 2500 block of Hardesty on an ambulance in route call for service.

Call notes indicated there was an individual lying on the ground, unresponsive. As officers arrived they located an adult male victim on the sidewalk. The victim appeared to be suffering from gunshot wounds. KCFD EMS arrived simultaneously and pronounced the victim deceased on scene.

This is being investigated as a homicide and there is no one in custody at this point. Detectives are working to determine what led up to the shots being fired and the victim being struck. Crime scene personnel and investigators are canvassing the scene for witnesses, physical evidence, and any available surveillance footage.

If anyone was in the area and heard or saw anything or has any information they are asked to contact Homicide detectives directly at 816-234-5043 or the TIPS Hotline anonymously at 816-474-TIPS. There is a reward of up to $25,000 for information submitted anonymously to the TIPS hotline.

We are committed to assisting victims of violent crimes through use of Missouri’s Protection Program for Victims/Witnesses of Violent Crime. Funding for temporary, or even permanent relocation, may be available but is subject to pre-approval by the State’s administering agency.
