Jackson County Legislator Abarca Plans Christmas Dinner For Newly Single Parents

Alternative celebration that resonates in this era and given the Legislator's tumultuous year in the media

Here's a glimpse at holiday reconciliation . . .

This year, Jackson County Legislator Manual Abarca IV is creating space to listen to and support newly single parents who do not have their children with them this holiday season. The event is intended to provide connections, conversation, and community for individuals who may otherwise find themselves spending Christmas alone.

"Our family court system was designed to put children first, prioritize the safety of victims, and provide fair and unbiased protections for all parents involved. But that's not always how it ends up and that needs to change," said Legislator Abarca. "This gathering is not about celebration, it's about listening, learning, and beginning conversations that can lead to systems that work better for families." The event is not a holiday party and will be alcohol-free. A family-style dinner will be provided free of charge to all registered attendees.
