Sorry (not sorry) but it's our TKC stock & trade to highlight a glimpse at local politics that shows elected leaders and power players in a more accurate light beyond their carefully crafted persona.
And besides all of the reactions, posturing, promises and politics . . .
Credit to Guv Kehoe for talking trash about Clark Hunt's long-dead daddy Lamar after the Chiefs sold out Missouri and fans in KC proper.
It's not really a stern rebuke but it stands above the rest for its honesty and assessment of the Chiefs organization.
Reality Check . .
The Chiefs might have enjoyed their best years in Kansas City proper and the team with Mahomes on the mend now stands at a crossroads where fans might expect continued greatness despite all indications that outfit has always valued the bottom line far more than their patrons.
Put simply . . .
Kansas City Chiefs just sold out more than HALF A MILLION FANS after generations of support. How much to you think you can trust them???
The answer to that question might dictate how much nearby residents are willing to spend on season tickets in the future . . . Or the inevitable elimination of tailgating culture.
None of this should be construed as hateration . . . In fact, KC proper now enjoys a brighter future without an albatross of more corporate welfare for a team that peaked two years ago.
Check yet another overview and the money line:
“State leaders did our part in putting together an attractive and competitive package that was a good deal for Missouri taxpayers and for the Chiefs,” Missouri Gov. Mike Kehoe said Monday. “Unfortunately, team ownership has decided to abandon Lamar Hunt’s legacy at the iconic Arrowhead Stadium, a place that Chiefs fans have rallied around since 1972.”
