The incident, according to Warrensburg police, began as a “domestic disturbance” call, near South Mitchell Street and Cedar Drive at about 7:20 a.m.
However, when officers arrived, they reported finding a suspect armed with a weapon and running southbound toward Hale Lake Road.
Police said the suspect fired their weapon in the direction of the officers as they were running away, leading law enforcement to set up a perimeter around the area and issue lockdowns for nearby schools and businesses.
The suspect, who has not been named by police, is reportedly assigned to the 509th Bomb Wing at Whiteman AFB, according to a Facebook post by the base on Wednesday morning.
