Victim Suffers Fractured Skull Amid Westport Halloween Pub Crawl

Scary news for Kansas City's embattled party district . . . A patron seems to have been picked off by attackers and endures permanent injury.

Here's the sitch and an ongoing investigation . . .

Late Saturday night his mom noticed his shared location was at Saint Luke's Hospital of Kansas City. When she called his phone a neurosurgeon answered.

"His skull was fractured in several places, he had internal bleeding, they had to do two surgeries that night to save him," she said.

The family said doctors described that the injuries were so severe it's unlikely they came from any sort of fall.

They'd learn he started the "Halloween Bar Crawl" event around 10 p.m. Saturday, November 1.

About 11:30 p.m. he was found in an alley off Pennsylvania Avenue. The alley is within a couple hundred feet of the district's main intersection with Westport Road, but is outside the usual secured and gated area for bar-goers according to Westport officials.
