According to filings with the Missouri Ethics Commission, the newly formed Put Missouri First campaign reported two $1 million contributions Sunday as Republicans attempt to thwart a Democratic-backed referendum campaign asking voters to weigh in on the new districts.
One of the organizations — Massachusetts-based Securing American Greatness — is a PAC tied to Taylor Budovich, a former Trump campaign staffer who currently serves as the president’s deputy chief of staff of communications.
The other group, Washington, D.C.-based American Action Network, is aligned with Republican leaders in the U.S. House.
Neither PAC discloses its donors.
