The results of the 2025 Kansas Speaks Survey say that almost 72% of Kansans support the idea of expanding Medicaid.

Kansas Senate President Ty Masterson spoke with 12 News about those findings. Masterson is a candidate in the 2026 race for Kansas Governor. He says he doesn’t think an expansion is possible under the current state legislature.

“Medicaid has been expanded in 40 states for over a decade, and it has not helped rural hospitals,” Masterson said.
